Tattoo Aftercare FAQs: Troubleshooting and Ongoing Care
Even with the best tattoo aftercare routine, you might encounter questions or minor issues. Here’s how to handle common concerns and keep your tattoo looking fresh long-term.
Dealing with itchiness, redness, and scabbing
Some itchiness and light scabbing are normal. Resist the urge to scratch or pick, as this can cause scarring or colour loss. Keep your tattoo clean and moisturised with gentle products to soothe discomfort.
How to keep your tattoo looking fresh in the long term
Ongoing care matters—moisturise regularly, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and use SPF to prevent fading. Gentle tattoo cleansers can be part of your routine even after healing is complete.
When to seek a professional’s advice
If you notice persistent redness, swelling, or signs of infection, consult your tattoo artist or a healthcare professional. Don’t hesitate to reach out for advice if something feels off during the healing process.
