How to Prevent Tattoos Fading

All tattoos fade eventually — that’s just part of it.
But how quickly they fade usually comes down to how you look after them.

It doesn’t need to be complicated either. A few small habits make a big difference over time.

Keep it out of the sun

Sun is the biggest thing that fades tattoos.

Even if it doesn’t happen straight away, over time it can really dull the colour and soften the lines.

If your tattoo’s exposed, it’s worth putting some SPF on it — especially in summer or if you’re out all day.

Don’t let your skin dry out

When your skin’s dry, your tattoo just doesn’t look as good. It can start to look a bit flat or faded.

Keeping it moisturised helps it stay looking sharper and more defined.

Nothing fancy needed — just something light that you’ll actually use consistently.

Just be consistent with it

Once your tattoo’s healed, it’s easy to forget about it — but that’s when this stuff actually matters.

You don’t need a full routine. Just:

  • moisturise it now and then
  • protect it from the sun
  • avoid anything too harsh on the skin

Even something small like keeping a care stick with you makes it easier to stay on top of it.

You’re never going to stop a tattoo fading completely — but you can slow it down a lot.

Look after your skin, be consistent, and it’ll stay looking better for longer.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
